WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO

The best time to visit Kosovo, for exploring nature, is in May, June or September into early October when the weather is generally good.

Sometimes people forget that Kosovo is located in southern Europe, so temperatures can get really hot in summer, although the average in July and August is the high 28.3 - 33°C. Similarly it snows in winter, so the best times to visit Kosovo are April to September. Two big cultural events include the NGOM Music Festival in June/July and Docufest Film Festival in August, both in Prizren. Easter is a special, sacred time throughout the country too.

Skiing season opens every year from the middle of December to the end of February.

WHAT TO PACK IN THE SUITCASE

In winter: in Kosovo, pack clothes such as a sweater, a coat, a cardigan, a hat, a down jacket, a scarf, gloves.
In summer: in Kosovo, light clothes, a T-shirt, but also long pants, a light jacket and a sweatshirt for the evening in the mountains; also an umbrella.

Additional items to consider to pack in the suitcase:

  • Money pouch

  • Mosquito repellent

  • Sun-cream and sunglasses

  • An electric plug converter

  • Phrase book

  • Comfortable walking shoes
